AN INTRODUCTION TO COSMETIC SURGERY

The basic elements of Beauty consist of symmetry and balance of the individual structures comprising the face. Balance means the relationship of each of the structures to themselves and to the whole structure. Scientifically, the face is 5 eye widths wide and equal in measurement from forehead to bridge of nose, bridge of nose to just below the, lip and from just below the lip to the tip of the chin. This is known as the Rule of Thirds and the Rule of Fifths. There are other more complex rules for each individual part, but in its most elemental context the concept of symmetry and balance can be applied to any object structure or human form defined as symmetry and balance.
