For such a small structure the nose is truly remarkable with its delicate inside lining, its focus as an aesthetic component of our appearance, the only conditioner we have that can clean, humidify, warm or cool the air we must breathe for life itself.

APPEARANCE
For many people, when our nose is the correct size and shape and fits well with our other facial features and proportions, we look and feel good about ourselves. Our self-image and confidence are enhanced.

FUNCTION
A nose that functions well is understandably taken for granted. When we can breathe from both sides, smell beautiful aromas, and taste and enjoy the varied foods we eat, we do not give our nose a second thought until we have a cold or we are unable to breathe through our noses as a result of an accident or trauma. Under these circumstances, if one is considering changing the appearance or having a problem with nasal function, nasal surgery becomes an important issue. If the nose does not look good, it becomes a point of concern. If it is too big, too long, too wide, or simply crooked, it can be corrected to look appropriate for the individual's face. Being self-conscious about one's nose has a negative impact on self-image, productivity, and confidence.

When the nose does not work well or one feels like that one has a cold most of time, restless, dry nights, irritated throat, and loss of smell bother a patient. When pills and sprays do not work, it is time to consider nasal surgery. Internal problems, such as allergies, are helped with good medical advice and appropriate medication. If the nose is blocked or crooked from a deviated septum or other structure, surgery is necessary to restore normal nasal function.

A crooked septum and swollen tissues block the air passage leading to obstruction, headaches and sinus disease.
